Stronger crop performance
Supporting nutrient access, residue cycling, and season-long productivity across diverse growing systems.
Our story
What started as a question about the unseen life beneath our feet became a practical mission: help farmers grow stronger crops and get more value from every acre.
The idea beneath our feet
Soil is alive. Billions of tiny organisms help move nutrients, cycle organic matter, and support the food chain. Direct Biologicals was founded on the belief that this hidden workforce could be turned into practical tools for farmers.
We did not start by trying to make biology sound complicated. We started with a familiar field problem: nutrients can be present in the soil and still remain unavailable to the crop.
Where it began
Our first breakthrough focused on phosphorus in corn and soybean fields. Here is that original science in plain language.
It can bind with soil minerals, including calcium, and become hard for roots to use.
A selected bacterial strain helped release that bound phosphorus into a plant-available form.
The nutrient could move into the crop, and the early field work produced a significant yield increase.
That result set our direction: solve a real farm problem, use the right biology, and judge the work by what it does in the field.
From one breakthrough to many crops
Since that first phosphorus project, our toolbox has grown to include many types of beneficial microorganisms—each selected for a practical job on American farms.
Supporting nutrient access, residue cycling, and season-long productivity across diverse growing systems.
Helping growers pursue stronger plants, crop quality, reproductive development, and stress tolerance.
What that means for your farm
Every product is designed with the farm's bottom line in mind. The goal is not to add another input just to add one—it is to match the right biology to the pressure holding your crop back.
Match Biology to the Job
Help the crop access resources already in the system and stay productive through the season.
Support goals such as fuller reproductive development, stronger color, and improved produce quality.
Help crops face heat, drought, salt, and other stress windows that can cut into performance.
Our promise
“We are here to make the unseen part of agriculture practical—so you can make a clearer decision about what belongs on your acres.”
Tell us about your crop, acres, and the pressure you are trying to solve. We will help connect the field problem to the right biological approach.
